Update Policy

At SeekaGo, we understand that running the latest version of software is critical for security, performance, and access to new features. This Update Policy outlines our procedures for monitoring, verifying, and publishing software updates on SeekaGo.com.

1. Monitoring and Detection

Our dedicated technical team and automated systems work around the clock to ensure our software library is as current as possible.

  • Automated Tracking: We utilize automated scripts to monitor official developer repositories and release channels for the majority of the software listed on our site.
  • Manual Review: For major applications and specialized tools, our editorial team manually checks for updates to ensure we capture major version changes immediately.
  • Frequency: Our systems check for updates daily. In most cases, a new version is listed on SeekaGo within 24 to 48 hours of its official release by the developer.

2. The Update Verification Process

Speed is important, but safety is our priority. Before any new update goes live on SeekaGo, it must pass our standard "No-Touch" safety protocol, regardless of how reputable the developer is.

Step 1: Retrieval
We download the new update directly from the official source.

Step 2: Safety Scan
The new file is processed through the VirusTotal API to check for malware, viruses, or bundled adware.

Step 3: Hash Generation
We generate new cryptographic signatures (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256) for the update so users can verify the integrity of the new file.

Step 4: Publication
Only after passing these checks is the update published to the site. If a new update is flagged as dangerous or unstable, we will pause publication and investigate further.

3. Older Versions Archive

We recognize that "newer" isn't always "better." Sometimes an update breaks compatibility with older operating systems, removes a beloved feature, or introduces bugs.

To support our users, SeekaGo maintains an Older Versions archive on specific software pages.

  • We retain stable, previous versions of software when permitted by the developer's license.
  • All archived versions remain subject to our safety scans.
  • Disclaimer: We recommend using the latest version for security reasons. Using older versions is done at your own risk, as they may contain unpatched security vulnerabilities.

4. Reporting Outdated Software

While we strive for 100% accuracy, the vast number of software titles means we may occasionally miss a minor update. We rely on our community to help us close the gap.

If you notice that a specific program on SeekaGo is outdated:

  1. Navigate to the software page.
  2. Click the "Report Software" or "Update Request" link.
  3. Select "Outdated Version" from the menu.

Our team prioritizes these user reports and will verify and upload the new version as quickly as possible.

5. Discontinued Software

If a developer officially discontinues a product (End of Life), we will mark the software as "Discontinued" on our site. We may keep the final listing active for historical preservation and for users who still require the tool for legacy systems, provided the file remains safe to use.

6. Contact Us

If you are a developer releasing an update and want to ensure it is listed on SeekaGo immediately, please contact us directly.
